SFA Intelligence

AI-assisted revenue cycle work, with people accountable for every claim

SFA Intelligence is the technology layer behind our billing team. It checks eligibility, reviews codes and claims before submission, sorts denials by cause, ranks A/R by value and deadline, and reports the KPIs that matter. Our billers and coders review what it finds and do the work.

Powered by the RCM Employee platform, which SFA licenses.

How it works

One workflow from eligibility to reporting

Each step is supported by an AI-assisted check, and each step has an SFA team member responsible for the result.

Modules

What each part of SFA Intelligence does

Plain descriptions of what the tools do today, and what our team does with the results.

SFA Eligibility Intelligence

Coverage checked before the visit.

  • Runs electronic eligibility checks (270/271 transactions) before scheduled visits
  • Flags inactive coverage, changed plans and secondary insurance
  • Surfaces copay, deductible and coinsurance details for the front desk

Human accountability: Our team follows up on mismatches and calls the payer when the electronic response is incomplete.

SFA Authorization Intelligence

Prior authorizations tracked to the date of service.

  • Flags services that commonly need prior authorization for the patient’s plan
  • Tracks each request’s status, approval number and expiry date
  • Alerts the team when an approval is close to expiring or a visit has no approval on file

Human accountability: Specialists prepare and submit the clinical documentation and follow up with the payer.

SFA Coding Intelligence

Code checks before the claim is built.

  • Checks CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 combinations against NCCI edits
  • Prompts for missing or conflicting modifiers (25, 59/X, RT/LT and others)
  • Points out diagnosis specificity gaps that commonly trigger medical-necessity denials

Human accountability: Certified coders review the suggestions against the provider’s documentation. Providers keep final say on what they documented.

SFA Claim Intelligence

Claims scrubbed before submission.

  • Reviews each claim against applicable billing, coding and payer-specific rules (10,000+ in our workflow) before submission
  • Catches missing data such as NPI, taxonomy, referring provider or authorization numbers
  • Tracks clearinghouse acknowledgments and 277 claim status responses

Human accountability: Billers correct flagged claims and decide when a claim is ready to go out.

SFA Denial Intelligence

Denials grouped by cause, not just by date.

  • Categorizes denials by CARC and RARC reason codes and by payer
  • Groups repeat denials so root causes are visible (eligibility, coding, authorization, timely filing)
  • Prioritizes appeals by dollar value and appeal deadline

Human accountability: Our team writes and files appeals and fixes the upstream cause with your staff.

SFA A/R Intelligence

A/R worked by value and deadline.

  • Builds aging worklists ranked by balance, payer and filing deadline
  • Sends timely-filing alerts before claims age out
  • Separates claims that need a call from those waiting on normal payer processing

Human accountability: A/R specialists call payers, document each follow-up and escalate stuck claims.

SFA Payment Intelligence

Payments posted and checked against what you should be paid.

  • Posts ERA (835) payments and adjustments and reconciles them to deposits
  • Flags payments below the expected allowed amount where fee schedules are loaded
  • Routes patient-responsibility balances for statements

Human accountability: Billers review variances and appeal short payments with the payer.

SFA Revenue Intelligence

KPIs you can see every month.

  • Dashboards for collections, days in A/R, aging buckets, denial rate and clean claim rate
  • Payer and provider performance views
  • Trend lines that show whether changes are working

Human accountability: Your account manager walks you through the numbers and the next actions each month.

What AI does not do

Clear limits, stated up front

  • It does not submit claims without a person responsible for them.
  • It does not change what a provider documented. Coding suggestions are checked against the note.
  • It does not guarantee payment. Payers make reimbursement decisions.
  • It does not replace your EHR. It works alongside the system you already use.

Questions

SFA Intelligence questions

Is SFA Intelligence software we have to buy or install?

No. SFA Intelligence is how our team works on your account. You keep your current EHR and practice management system, and our team uses the platform alongside it with the access your practice grants.

Who built the technology?

SFA Intelligence runs on RCM Employee, an AI-powered revenue cycle platform that SFA licenses. SFA's team configures and operates it for each client and reviews its output.

Does AI make billing decisions on its own?

No. The tools check, sort and flag work. Experienced billers and coders review the results, correct claims and decide what goes out. People are accountable for every claim.

Is patient data protected?

Yes. We sign a Business Associate Agreement before any patient information is accessed, staff use multi-factor authentication and encrypted devices, and we complete an annual HIPAA security risk assessment. See our Security and Compliance Center for details.

Do I get to see the dashboards?

Yes. Clients get KPI reporting on collections, days in A/R, aging, denials and clean claim rate, and a monthly review with their account manager.
