About billing in Veradigm
Veradigm Practice Management is the scheduling, registration and billing system Veradigm sells to independent physician practices, alongside its ambulatory EHR. Allscripts EHR and practice management products moved to the Veradigm brand in 2022. Billing tools include Claim Verification, which stores edit rules such as payer-specific rejections, System Rule Manager, which can correct coding errors or send them to a work queue, and Office Manager workspaces for pending and unpaid claims. Veradigm Payerpath is its clearinghouse, with claims management, remittance management and eligibility and benefits inquiry.
Does SFA work with Veradigm?
Yes. We work inside your Veradigm Practice Management system and Payerpath account using logins your practice creates. We have no partnership or integration with Veradigm.
What billing work does SFA handle in Veradigm?
We work Claim Verification and System Rule Manager edits, submit claims through Payerpath, post remittances, appeal denials and follow up on pending and unpaid claims from Office Manager work queues. Eligibility checks before visits can be added through Payerpath.
How does onboarding work?
It starts with a free practice audit, where we review your billing in Veradigm and walk you through where revenue may be slipping. If you move forward, we sign a Business Associate Agreement, your administrator creates user accounts for our team, and we review your payer list, fee schedules and open A/R. We also review the work queues and edit rules already set up so our team picks up existing work without duplicating it.
Do we need to change our EHR?
No. We work inside your existing Veradigm setup, so there is no migration and your providers keep documenting the way they do today. Your Veradigm EHR, practice management setup and Payerpath connection stay in place.
What access does SFA need?
We need Veradigm Practice Management user accounts with billing, payment and collections rights, plus a Payerpath login for claim status and remittance review. Your administrator controls both and can remove them at any time.
How are claims handled?
Claim Verification and System Rule Manager flag errors at entry, and we resolve them before claims go to Payerpath. Claims are reviewed against applicable billing, coding and payer-specific rules (10,000+ in our workflow) before submission to help identify preventable errors. Rejections returned through Payerpath are corrected and resubmitted.
How are payments posted?
Payerpath alerts staff when electronic remittances are ready, and we post them and work the exceptions, such as takebacks and unmatched lines. Paper EOBs are posted manually, and all batches are reconciled to deposits.
How are denials worked?
We group denials by reason and payer, correct the cause and appeal where the payer allows. When the same rejection repeats, we add or update a Claim Verification rule so it is flagged at entry next time.
How does SFA Intelligence fit in?
SFA Intelligence is our AI-assisted workflow, powered by the RCM Employee platform, which we license. It works alongside Veradigm, reading the claim and remittance data your practice authorizes, to run eligibility checks (270/271), check coding against NCCI edits, scrub claims, categorize denials by reason, flag timely-filing risk in A/R and reconcile 835 payments to spot underpayments. Your team keeps using Veradigm as usual, and our billers review and own every claim decision. There is no direct integration with Veradigm, only the access your practice grants.
What reporting will we get?
You get monthly reporting on collections, A/R aging, denials and clean claim rate, reviewed with your named account manager. We also use Veradigm and Payerpath reports, including Payerpath's claim and remittance reconciliation, where your access allows. Figures are reconciled to what Veradigm shows, so your numbers and ours match.
What security controls apply?
We sign a BAA before any work begins, and our U.S.-based team is HIPAA trained. Staff systems use MFA, staff devices are encrypted, and we complete an annual HIPAA security risk assessment. Your practice creates our Veradigm accounts and can change or revoke them at any time.
What does implementation look like?
After the BAA is signed and accounts are active, we can typically begin within 24 hours of receiving system access. The first weeks focus on clearing held or rejected claims, confirming ERA enrollment with your main payers and building an A/R worklist by age and filing deadline. With Veradigm, we also confirm which Office Manager queues are assigned to our team. Your named account manager is your single point of contact throughout.
Billing tips for Veradigm practices
Turn repeat rejections into rules
Claim Verification can store payer-specific rejection rules and flag them at data entry. Each repeat rejection is a chance to add a rule so the front desk or coder sees it before the claim leaves.
Keep work queues assigned
System Rule Manager can route coding errors to a work queue for review. If that queue has no owner, those claims sit unsent, so check counts weekly.
Use Payerpath reconciliation
Payerpath reconciles submitted claims against payer reports and remittances. Claims sent but never acknowledged show up there first and need follow-up before the filing limit.
